INTRODUCTION TO HEALTH PSYCHOLOGY IN AUSTRALIA

Professor Phyllis Butow (Chair of PoCoG) and her colleagues have recently published a new text book Introduction to Health Psychology in Australia.

The text provides comprehensive, up-to-date coverage of health psychology from Australian and international perspective. It covers all mainstream health psychology topics including risk behaviour, stress and illness, family life and public health.

The book includes analyses and evaluations of contemporary issues such as cross-cultural dimensions of health and illness, biological systems, lifespan influences and the impact of illness on family issues.

Readers are encouraged to understand the reasons why people make certain decisions regarding their health by considering issues, theory and research evidence, and assessing relevant interventions.

The book is published by Pearson Education Australia www.pearsoned.com.au
