Professor Robert Zachariae -

Robert Zachariae is professor at the Departments of Clinical Medicine and Psychology   and Behavioural Science, Aarhus University, director of the Unit for Psychooncology and Health Psychology, Department of Oncology, Aarhus University Hospital, Aarhus, Denmark and National Scientific Coordinator of a recently established Danish National Center for Breast Cancer Late Effects. Current research includes a number of ongoing projects to evaluate the efficacy of both face-to-face and internet-delivered interventions, including expressive writing intervention, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, cognitive training, and light therapy on cancer-related distress, fear of cancer recurrence, persistent pain, cognitive complaints, insomnia , fatigue among cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers. Non-cancer-related health problems investigated include psoriasis, infertility treatments, COPD, and pain.

Professor Zachariae presented an overview of the unit’s current research projects with special emphasis on studies of interventions for late effects of cancer and cancer treatments.

 
Dr Nina Moeller Tauber

Nina Moeller Tauber is a PhD fellow at the Department of Psychology and Behavioural Sciences, Aarhus University, and a member of the committee of FORwards, a Fear of Cancer Recurrence Special Interest Group of the International Psycho-Oncology Society (IPOS). In collaboration with Professor Phyllis Butow, Dr Belinda Thewes, Professor Robert Zachariae, Associate Professor Mia Skytte O’Toole and a number of other collaborators, Nina is currently translating the Australian Conquer Fear intervention for Fear of Cancer Recurrence into Danish and developing a group delivered version of the treatment, which will be evaluated in a randomised controlled trial. As a part of FORwards, Nina is also coordinating a systematic review and meta-analysis of the effect of psychological intervention on fear of cancer recurrence in collaboration with other members of this special interest group.
