OZPOS and PoCoG are proud to announce the OZPOS and PoCoG Psycho-oncology Professional Day 2010 Optimising psychosocial care through clinical and research excellence. The Professional Day brings together researchers and clinicians working in psycho-oncology to consider initiatives to promote quality cancer care and to share ideas so that research is clinically meaningful. It will also provide an opportunity for clinicians to gain access to innovative research ideas. This year’s meeting will focus on aspects of survivorship care and complex clinical cases in psycho-oncology.
The program
Clinical workshops will address issues of workforce and skill development in delivery of psychosocial care. Two workshops will be offered: Mindfulness in Oncology and Helping parents with cancer to talk with their children. For more information please see the workshop brochure.
A panel discussion session, chaired by the international guest A/Prof. Matt Loscalzo, will provide the opportunity for participants to hear clinical experts from a variety of disciplines describe their approaches to challenging clinical cases. Members of OZPOS and PoCoG will be given the opportunity to submit case-examples for this session.
Research sessions will include a wide range of presentations across all aspects of psycho-oncology. There will also be at least one session devoted to new research ideas and works in progress, especially from early career researchers.
Who can attend?
We welcome registrations from all members of OZPOS and PoCoG as well as other members of COSA and other interested attendees of the COSA ASM. All participants must also be registered for at least one day of the COSA ASM.
What is the cost?
Registration is free.
When and where?
The Professional Day is a satellite event to the COSA Annual Scientific Meeting and will be held on Monday 8 November 2010 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Abstract submissions and registration
The meeting will provide a professional forum for oral presentations from clinicians and researchers working in the area of psycho-oncology who may not otherwise get the chance to present their work at the COSA ASM. Presentations will be selected from abstracts submitted to the COSA ASM but not accepted for an oral presentation. Our goal is to provide the widest possible forum for the excellent Psycho-Oncology research being conducted in Australia. We would therefore like to encourage members to submit abstracts to COSA.
You can register for the OZPOS PoCoG Psycho-oncology Professional Day on the COSA ASM website.
To register your expression of interest for the clinical workshops please contact the Professional Day secretariat on pocog.office@sydney.edu.au Places are limited. More details about the workshops and pre-workshop preparation will be provided closer to the day.
Meeting convenors:
