18/10/2017 - PoCoG SAC Members Win COSA Psycho-oncology Award
Australia has a proud history of excellence in psycho-oncology care and research and COSA along with the Psycho-oncology Co-operative Research Group (PoCoG) have fostered this field as part of multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.
 
The 2017 COSA Psycho-oncology Awards recognise the dedicated researchers and clinicians contributing to development and excellence in this area. 
 
The COSA Australian Psycho-oncology Award
This award recognises the highest level of contribution to psycho-oncology from amongst the membership of COSA and PoCoG. This year's recipient is Professor David Kissane, head of the Department of Psychiatry at Monash University and Chair of the PoCoG Scientific Advisory Committee. 
 
The COSA New Investigator in Psycho-oncology Award
Dr Ursula Sansom-Daly, a clinician-researcher and a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the School of Women’s and Children’s Health, UNSW Medicine, University of NSW is  recipient of the 2017 award. Reflecting her dual clinical-research roles, Dr Sansom-Daly focuses on applying evidence-based psychology to understand, and address, mental health issues among adolescents and young adults with cancer from diagnosis through to survivorship and end-of-life. She holds prestigious Early Career Fellowships from both the National Health and Medical Research Council and the Cancer Institute NSW, and has been a chief investigator on grants >$4.9M. Dr Sansom-Daly was one of the ABC's 'Top 5 Under 40' scientists in residence 2017.
