23/10/2018 - Opportunity - Cancer Council Liaison

Cancer Council is advertising for its first Cancer Council Liaison position to be  based at Concord Cancer Centre.

Consultation with staff at the centre has identified opportunities for the Cancer Council Liaison to complement existing cancer services, making referrals and access to services simpler for patients and their carers.

The position creates greater linkage between the treatment centre and external services, but does not replace any existing allied health or clinical positions.

The position is new and exciting and will have a direct impact on people affected by cancer.

Cancer Council is looking for a candidate with;

  • Tertiary qualifications in a healthcare field (e.g. nursing, allied health, health management)
  • Demonstrated understanding of the supportive care needs of people affected by cancer.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and develop effective relationships with health professionals, community services, and non-government organisations.
  • Previous experience working in a clinical environment, preferably oncology.
  • Experience working with clients or community members who may be experiencing high levels of distress.
  • Strong communication skills including experience presenting to both professional and community audiences.
